To know, mine and revise our stories is maturity in action. Sharing stories in the good company of others is to be true to yourself and to let yourself be known.

    In these times of disconnect and division, there is a yearning to come together--

    To meet the living mystery of our collective unfolding,

    And to move in the poetry of belonging.

    What groups do we long to belong to? When do we claim or shame our belonging?
    How do we dance with the known, unknown, and secreted stories of our peoples?
    What does being in a group call forward in us, whether welcome or not? 

What is Open Floor?

Open Floor is a “no steps to learn” dance. It is an emdonied movement practice rooted in the theory that when you put the body in motion, the psyche will align with it’s own healing, even when this might call for more than just dance. This simple and profound curriculum supports mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual wellness. Its core is relational, helping us to engage with our hungers for solitude, connection, and belonging by building awareness of, and responsibility for, our needs and projects from moment to moment.  Movement practice is one part of a healthy psyche and ecosystem. People who dance regularly are healthier, have keener minds and a calmer presence. Self-expression, communion, creativity, and fun – this is why we dance.  

Open Floor movement practice deepens self awareness, mindfulness, and purpose in life.
